Afrobeats superstar Davido has spoken from the heart about how the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, completely changed his life and career outlook.

In October 2022, the singer and his wife, Chioma Rowland, suffered the devastating loss of their three-year-old son, who drowned in a swimming pool at Davido’s Banana Island home in Lagos. The heartbreaking news shocked fans across the world, and many wondered how the couple would ever recover.

Speaking in a recent interview with ABC News’ Rocsi Diaz, Davido revealed that the tragedy forced him to step back and reassess everything. He said:

“Stepping away after losing my son and being able to look back into my career, gave me a refocus of how I wanted to move going forward. It changed my life.”

The Unavailable crooner expressed deep pride in how both he and Chioma found the strength to heal together, despite the unimaginable pain. He added that their resilience has quietly inspired countless people. Davido shared:

“I know how many who randomly come to me at the airport to tell me how my strength has inspired them in hard times. I was telling my wife the other day that I’m proud of how we bounced back. Now, we got twins. They are big and shouting everywhere. For us to be able to go through the loss of our son and be able to bounce back in a major way is huge.”

Meanwhile, Davido and his longtime love Chioma Rowland sealed their union in a jaw-dropping white wedding at the upscale Mana Wynwood Convention Center in Miami, USA. The Sunday, August 10 affair was perfectly balanced with emotional moments and pure luxury.
