Rangers manager Russell Martin has provided a positive injury update on striker Cyriel Dessers, DAILY POST reports.

Dessers sustained a knee injury during the Light Blues UEFA Champions League qualifying round tie against Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday night.

The Nigeria international was forced off the the pitch in the 54th minute of the encounter.

The 30-year-old was initially expected to be sidelined for a lengthy spell.

Martin however said the injury is not bad as initially thought.

“Cyriel Dessers’ injury was not as bad as we thought; he is still sore but he will be back in the coming weeks,” he told a press conference on Friday.

Rangers will be in action against Alloa Athletic in a Premier Sports Cup Round of 16 tie at Ibrox on Saturday.
