In my personal opinion, in fact, I think it’s a stupid step to get married, that’s my opinion,” Chike said, stressing that marriage is not a priority for him at this stage of life.

The singer, who is best known for his soulful love songs, added that his sense of fulfillment is tied more to financial security than to traditional milestones like marriage. He admitted:

“For me to be happy, to be honest, I need a lot of money. This is not even canal, I won’t lie to you, I like money. I want money.”

Reflecting on his career during the interview, Chike recalled that he only decided to pursue music professionally after completing his university education. He said:

“I would say right after my university, I knew music is what I’ll do for a living. I won’t say I knew before, to be honest, because I just used to sing and disturb everybody around me.”

Chike’s remarks have surprised many fans who often see him as one of Nigeria’s most romantic singers, with hits like Boo of the Booless’ and ‘Running (To You)’. Yet, this is not the first time he has given unusual takes on love and relationships.
