Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a commercial motorcyclist, Isah Ibrahim, whose body was discovered in a well at Ore Stadium, Odigbo Local Government Area.
Ibrahim, who had been declared missing since August 17, was found dead on Thursday after colleagues and residents had mounted a search across Ore town.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Razaq, had ordered a full-scale probe to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death.
“The Command urges members of the public to remain calm. A thorough investigation is underway, and those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice,” Ayanlade assured.
Community sources disclosed that Ibrahim’s Bajaj motorcycle has yet to be recovered, fueling suspicions that his death may be linked to motorcycle snatching, a crime reportedly on the rise in Ore and surrounding areas.
A fellow commercial motorcyclist, who spoke on condition of anonymity, lamented the growing insecurity in the community.
“We suspect that Isah may have fallen victim to those targeting our motorcycles. We appeal to the Police and other security agencies to intensify efforts to track these criminals because our lives and livelihoods are increasingly at risk,” he said.
The Police Command has promised to pursue all leads in the case and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety and order in Ondo State.
