NSCDC arrests 5 suspects for various criminal offences in Enugu

Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested no fewer than five suspects for alleged criminal offences within the last seven days in Enugu metropolis.

The state Commandant of the Corps, Elijah Willie, made this disclosure while speaking with journalists on Friday in Enugu.

Willie stated that the suspects were held for vandalism of public amenities, robbery and assault on security personnel.

The Commandant added that on August 19 and Aug 20, NSCDC operatives on routine patrol arrested two male suspects for allegedly vandalising street lamps armoured cables.

According to him, one of the suspects arrested at Nkpokiti Roundabout in Enugu about 8p.m.; while the second was apprehended at Nza Street, Enugu.

“The items recovered from them includes a bag containing many exhibits, including an iron rod,” he said.

Willie further revealed that on August 22, at about 1:30 am, NSCDC operatives arrested another suspect for vandalising galvanised street poles.
