Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy has finally addressed one of the strangest misconceptions about him. This comes, following claims that the singer’s success comes from his unshaved armpits.

For years, pictures of the African Giant performing with visibly hairy underarms have fueled online chatter, with some fans joking and others seriously claiming that he keeps them untouched for spiritual reasons. Some even compared him to the biblical Samson, whose strength was in his hair.

But in a recent sit-down with Apple Music, Burna Boy couldn’t help but laugh off the wild theories. Shaking his head in disbelief, he said:
“One is that I don’t like to shave my armpits. People think it’s like Samson in the Bible, that my power is in my hair. Some even say it’s voodoo, that my power is in my armpits.”
“I don’t even know how to explain it. It’s just some dumb sh*t. I even tried to find out if that’s possible.”

The hitmaker, who just made history as the first African artist with Billboard Hot 100 entries for five consecutive years, added that Nigerians are known for creating the most hilarious and sometimes bizarre stories about their stars.
Earlier, Burna Boy, left fans stunned after making a startling revelation about the path his life could have taken if music had not worked out for him.
In a candid interaction with a follower, the Afrobeats giant confessed that without his music career, he might have ended up in dangerous or controversial ventures. Burna Boy said:
“There are many options. I could be stealing oil, I could be playing basketball, I could be a fraudster, a suicide bomber… anything, including a prostitute.”
While Burna’s blunt honesty shocked many, fans were quick to note how far he has come, transforming from uncertainty about his future to becoming one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.
