The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of a kidnapped victim who was shot by his abductors in Kesan village, Shanga Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the incident occurred on Saturday when gunmen invaded the village and abducted one Abdulmuminu Alhaji Amadu.

He explained that upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga mobilised his men alongside local vigilantes and engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel. During the exchange, the victim was shot in the left leg by his captors, who later abandoned him and fled into the bush.

The victim was immediately evacuated to a hospital where he is receiving treatment and responding well.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the gallantry of the combined forces and assured that the command remains committed to safeguarding lives and property in the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.
