The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two suspected kidnappers during a gun battle along the Tungargiwa–Saminaka road.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the incident occurred on Sunday after security operatives received intelligence about a gang planning to ambush commuters.

He explained that a joint team of police and other security agents launched an operation in the forest, engaging the suspects in a gunfight that left two dead while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

An AK-47 rifle, a magazine and live ammunition were recovered at the scene.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the operatives for their bravery and said sustained patrols in Shanga Local Government Area and nearby communities have been helping to curb crime.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies, assuring that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property in the state.
