Bayelsa United stunned Shooting Stars 1-0 in their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, matchday one encounter at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Sunday.

Kehinde Lawal scored the winning goal for the Prosperity Boys on the hour mark.

New boys Kun Khalifat held eight-time champions Rangers to a 0-0 draw at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Record champions Enyimba were also held to a 0-0 draw by another newcomer, Barau FC.

Warri Wolves recorded the second away win of the day, edging past Katsina United 1-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

Igbunnu Evwierhurhoma scored the decisive goal 14 minutes from time.

In Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors recorded a 2-0 victory over Bendel Insurance.

Al’amin Umar and Daddy Abdulrahman got the goals for the visitors.
