A serious road accident occurred at the Berger Bridge T-Junction in Epe, Lagos State, leaving several people injured and causing heavy traffic gridlock.

The incident happened on Thursday when a truck reportedly suffered a brake failure, lost control, and rammed into multiple vehicles waiting at the junction. The crash involved a tricycle (keke napep) and four cars, all of which were severely damaged.

An eyewitness, Mr Ademola, recounted: “The driver kept shouting that his brake had failed. Before we knew it, the truck had already crashed into the tricycle and several cars. People were screaming and running everywhere.”

Another commuter, Mrs Kehinde, described the accident as horrifying, saying: “The tricycle was badly crushed, and several people were injured. Thank God no life was lost.”

Emergency responders, including officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, and local security operatives, quickly arrived at the scene to rescue victims and ease traffic congestion.

Authorities confirmed that although no lives were lost, many victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment.

The accident, however, left commuters stranded for hours as traffic stretched across the T-Junction axis.
