Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has made it clear he wants Kobbie Mainoo to remain in his squad this season.

Mainoo had informed the club of his desire to leave on loan before Deadline Day on September 1.

Amorim included the England midfielder in his starting XI for the Carabao Cup tie at Grimsby Town on Wednesday night.

However, Mainoo has been an unused substitute in the two Premier League games United have played this season this season.

“I want Kobbie to stay and he needs to fight for his place,” Amorim replied, when asked about the future of Mainoo ahead of facing Burnley tomorrow.

“We need Kobbie. That is not going to change.”
