Bayer Leverkusen are close to sacking manager Erik ten Hag after only two games this new season.

Ten Hag has seen the team pick up only one point from their first two fixtures.

Leverkusen lost their opener 2-1 at home to Hoffenheim after taking an early lead.

Yesterday, the former German champions threw away a 3-1 advantage away against 10-man Werder Bremen to draw 3-3.

The result leaves Leverkusen languishing in the bottom half.

According to Kicker, Ten Hag is on the brink of being sacked and the club have issued no statement to support him.

Leverkusen want to build on Xabi Alonso’s successful stint at the club, during which he led them to an unbeaten domestic double and the Europa League final.
