The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, Gen. Christopher Musa, has welcomed the judgment of a Finnish court that sentenced Simon Ekpa to six years in prison for terrorism-related offences.

The Päijät-Häme District Court in Finland delivered the ruling, which Musa described as a significant step in the global fight against terrorism.

In a statement on Monday by the Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, the CDS said the verdict shows that individuals who incite or finance violence will be held accountable, regardless of their location.

He commended the Finnish authorities for ensuring justice and acknowledged the role of Nigerian security agencies, intelligence operatives, and diplomats in providing evidence that contributed to the conviction.

Musa pledged continued collaboration with international partners to dismantle terrorist networks and urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and support security agencies in the fight against insurgency and violent separatist movements.
