Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Peter Odey, has been bombarded with an avalanche of demands as he paid formal visits to Bekwara LGA in continuation of his tour of the northern parts of the state.
Topmost of the demands include rehabilitation of roads, availability of potable drinking water, electricity supply, and employment opportunities for his people.
The people lamented that they have not been carried along like other southern communities of the state.
His visit coincided with the celebration of the New Yam Festival in Bekwara LGA.
The Ada Bekwarra, Chief Omang Idiege, presented the concerns of the people to the deputy governor.
The deputy governor appreciated the huge turnout of the people, stating that the government was aware of the challenges.
He appealed to the people to secure their electricity transformers when they eventually arrive.
He announced that the construction of many urban roads has been captured and will commence soon, while the Ogoja-Katsina-Ala federal highway has been rehabilitated by the state government.
