21 internet fraudsters convicted in Ibadan, cars, cash forfeited

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan Zonal Directorate, has secured the conviction of 21 fraudsters who operated online before the Federal High Court and High Court of Oyo State, sitting in Ibadan.

The convicts, Waheed Hamid Aromose, Aliu Abayomi Victor, Ugbe Emmanuel Ukali, Ajewole Segun Abraham, and 17 others, were prosecuted on separate count charges ranging from impersonation and obtaining by false pretense to retention of proceeds of crime.

All defendants pleaded guilty and received varying sentences, including community service, jail terms, and fines. Some were also ordered to forfeit vehicles and other proceeds of crime, such as a Mercedes Benz GLK and Toyota Camry cars.

The sentences delivered by Justices Uche Agomoh, O.S. Adeyemi, Ladiran Akintola, R.B. Olawoyin, O.S. Adeniyi, O.A. Adetujoye, M.O. Ishola, and Bayo Taiwo, reflect the EFCC’s continued clampdown on cybercrime in Oyo State.
