A set of conjoined twins who underwent a successful separation surgery sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has successfully returned to Nigeria.
The twins, who had been in Saudi Arabia for two years were welcomed on arrival at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport by the Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday.
The Governor assured that his administration would take full responsibility of their welfare, including feeding, healthcare, education, and other essential needs.
In their remarks, the parents of the twins Hassan Isa and his wife Suwaiba Basiru, expressed gratitude to the Saudi government for funding and carrying out the complex surgery without complications.
Saudi authorities gave a one-year follow-up timeline to monitor the children’s health after their return.
It will be recalled that in October 2023, the Saudi government sponsored the free surgical separation of the twin girls- Hassana and Hussaina, who were born conjoined.
