Hospital Cleaner Caught Allegedly Trying to Sell Placentas

Rose Mnisi, a 39-year-old hospital cleaner has been arrested after she was found in possession of human tissue in Mpumalanga, South Africa. 

This is according to information released by Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, in a statement on Thursday, September 18.

Mdhluli said Rose Mnisi, a worker at a local hospital was nabbed after police were alerted about a woman selling placentas (an organ formed when a woman is pregnant that connects mother and baby).

“The police officers followed up on the information and, based on the suspect’s description, were able to locate a woman carrying a plastic bag along Voortrekker Street in Lydenburg.

“Upon being approached by the police, the woman was found to be in possession of human tissue. The woman confirmed that she is a cleaner in the maternity ward,” Mdhluli said.

Mnisi was arrested and charged with the illegal possession of human tissue.

She has since appeared in the Mashishing District Court and the matter has been postponed to September 25 for her bail application.
