Alleged broken head: Resign now – Ex-commissioner tells Abia lawmaker

Former Commissioner for Information in Abia State, John Okiyi Kalu has insisted that the head of Stephen Ucheonye Akachukwu, a member of Abia State House of Assembly, was broken during an altercation with Majority Leader, Uchenna Okoro Kalu.

Okiyi also claimed that the trending pictures and videos of the broken head were real,l and not AI-generated.

In a statement he issued on Wednesday, the former Abia State Commissioner for Information, alleged that Akachukwu lied to the Abia people by denying that no fight took place between him and his colleague, therefore, should resign from office.

“Uchenna brazenly lied to his constituents and Ndi Abia when he publicly claimed that he was not attacked and his head broken. He is still carrying the stitching scars from the incident which happened August 2025 in Aba.

“Honorable Ucheonye actually started the altercation when he, in a fit of rage, threw his drink at Honorable Okoro during the caucus meeting of Labour Party legislators at the home of Honorable Fyne Ahuama in Aba”, Okiyi alleged.

According to the former Commissioner, multiple sources told him that it was not a bottle of beer that was used to inflict the injury on Akachukwu but a whisky glass cup.

“Contrary to false claims on AI generation of the pictures, it was actually Honorable Ucheonye that took the pictures, along with the circulating video, and sent the same to Governor Alex Otti who subsequently forwarded to principal officers of the house for whatever reason. Did he send AI generated pictures to the Governor?”, Okiyi asked.

He challenged the victim to present himself to selected members of the Nigeria Medical Association, Abia State branch and the press for them to examine and confirm if his head was actually broken and stitched.

Okiyi Kalu added that it was wrong to accuse the opposition in the State of posting AI generated pictures and videos of the alleged incident.
