The management of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, Kebbi State, has announced an immediate suspension of academic activities, directing all staff and students to vacate the campus without delay.

The directive was contained in an internal memo issued by the Office of the Registrar and Secretary to Council. The notice, signed by Registrar Maimaro Alhaji Tilli, stated that the closure takes effect immediately and applies to all categories of students, including postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma, remedial, and IJMB programmes.

Students were instructed to leave the school premises within one hour of the announcement, while the institution’s Security Division has been authorised to evacuate anyone found in the hostels or other restricted areas thereafter.

The university further advised off-campus students in surrounding areas, including Gidan Rami, to vacate their residences to avoid what it described as possible “embarrassment” by security operatives enforcing the closure.

Although the memo did not disclose the reason for the decision, sources within the institution linked it to rising security concerns affecting educational institutions across northern Nigeria.

The university stated that the shutdown will remain in force until further notice.
