Lagos State House of Assembly has commenced a comprehensive review of the 2024 Auditor-General’s report through its Public Accounts Committee (State), signaling a strengthened commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs.

Chairman of the Committee, Kehinde Olaide Joseph, disclosed the oversight exercise during a briefing at the Lateef Jakande Complex, emphasising that the initiative aims to reinforce governance systems rather than target individuals.

“The Assembly has a constitutional duty to examine the management of public funds, ensuring that government agencies operate efficiently, comply with laws and regulations, and deliver tangible value to the people of Lagos,” Joseph said.

The committee revealed that it plans to summon heads of agencies identified in the Auditor-General’s report to provide clarifications on irregularities and explain steps taken to address concerns.

Cooperation and transparency from all concerned officials are expected.

Joseph explained that the review will prioritize aligning expenditures with approved budgets, detecting systemic weaknesses, promoting effective public investments, and preventing mismanagement.

He stressed that governance outcomes should directly benefit residents of Lagos State.

Joseph affirmed that any breach of financial regulations will be addressed decisively.
