A Nigerian soldier has raised alarm over what he describes as deep-rooted issues within the nation’s security system, expressing frustration over the government’s handling of escalating violence across the country.
In a message circulating widely online, the soldier alleged that frontline troops are being left vulnerable despite the rising number of casualties.

Soldier laments abandonment
He claimed that many personnel feel abandoned and overstretched, with little clarity from authorities about ongoing security challenges.
He also accused political leaders of prioritising personal interests while expecting soldiers to continue risking their lives.
According to him, many officers believe the welfare of their families is being neglected, creating a growing sense of resentment within the ranks.
Soldier says citizens will have to defend themselves
The soldier suggested that the worsening situation may eventually push citizens and security personnel to defend themselves individually, as confidence in leadership continues to erode.
He further questioned whether the country still has effective leadership capable of addressing the insecurity.
His words in part …
