A viral video showing 161 JSS1 studentspacked into a single classroom at Turaki Model School in Sokoto has triggered a wave of anger and criticism across social media.

Many Nigerians are questioning the state government’spriorities, accusing the Governor of focusing more on pilgrims than students.

In the video, the class appears overcrowded, with students standing shoulder-to-shoulder.

The students respond loudly: “JSS1C — 161.”

The clip spread quickly online, drawing thousands of reactions within hours.

Governor Criticised Over Hajj Cash Gift

While the video gained momentum, many Nigerians pointed fingers at the Governor of Sokoto State for allegedly neglecting the education sector.

The controversy grew after it emerged that the state government recently gifted 1,000 Saudi Riyals (about ₦450,000) each to 3,200 pilgrims who performed the 2025 Hajj.

Critics argue that the same funds could have been channelled into improving classrooms, hiring teachers, or expanding school structures.

Netizens React

One X user reposted the video with a caption accusing the governor of misplacing priorities.

The post ignited a larger conversation about poverty, poor learning conditions, and the state of education in northern Nigeria.

Many commenters also called for urgent intervention in public schools, describing the conditions as “unsafe,” “inhumane,” and “unacceptable.”
