Morris Udeze has expressed immense pride in donning the Nigerian jersey after helping D’Tigers secure a hard-fought win over Rwanda.
The forward delivered an outstanding performance during aaaavin Tunisia, posting an impressive 30 points in Nigeria’s 75–69 victory on Sunday.
Udeze described wearing the national colours as a lifelong dream fulfilled.
“I’ve always wanted to represent my country whenever I get the chance. I’m thankful to the coaching staff, the general manager, and my teammates for trusting me to be part of this squad,” he added.
“I’ve really enjoyed playing alongside this incredible group, and I’ll always be ready to represent Nigeria no matter the circumstances.”
Reflecting on the game, U deze said the team maintained calmness even when the match seemed to slip away in the fourth quarter.
“We stayed composed, even when we were trailing by a wide margin in the fourth quarter. I believed in my teammates, and we kept pushing ourselves to compete,” Udeze noted.
“We remained resilient from start to finish through all four quarters and in overtime. It made my first experience representing Nigeria truly unforgettable.”
The match proved more challenging than anticipated, as Rwanda took control early with a 21–12 first-quarter lead and forced overtime after dominating the fourth quarter 25–16, despite losing the second and third quarters 6–13 and 9–20.
D’Tigers, however, showed composure in the extra period, claiming it 14–8 to seal the overall 75–69 win a result Udeze attributed to the team’s refusal to panic.
