Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday, rebuked senators for calling on former Chief of Defence Staff and Defence Minister nominee Christopher Musa to “bow and go” during his ministerial screening.

Akpabio said Donald Trump, President of the United States, is putting pressure on Nigeria, insisting that Musa must therefore be properly grilled.

Speaking on the floor of the Senate, Akpabio said there were numerous questions requiring answers, particularly on the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.

The Senate had a rowdy session while screening Musa, during which some senators demanded that he “bow and go” following his responses to questions posed to him.

However, Akpabio faulted the lawmakers for attempting to inject politics into Musa’s screening.

According to Akpabio: “This is not the time for politics of ‘bow and go’. Even Donald Trump is on our neck. We’ve not asked him what his response will be to Donald Trump.

“A nominee for Minister of Defence, and you stand up and say he should take a bow and go, with so many questions on the mouths of Nigerians and over 200 children still in the bush and being tortured? Let’s give the man the opportunity to give Nigerians hope.”
