Rivers Assembly Speaker, others defect to APC

Sixteen members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who are loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have defected to the All Progressives Congress APC, from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

While announcing their decision on Friday, they said the crisis in the PDP was the reason for their action.

The defectors include the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, his Deputy, Dumle Maol, and 14 others.

Recall that Wike among others were recently expelled from the PDP by leadership of the party over his alleged anti-party activities.

Even the State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, who was slammed a six-month suspension, has neither identified with the PDP or any party since he was reinstated few months ago.
