He urged the new Notaries Public to uphold the highest levels of integrity and ethical conduct, noting that their functions are vital to the credibility of the judiciary.
Justice Alogba cautioned the appointees that the weight of their office is reflected in their professional endorsement.
He stressed that a Notary Public acts as a representative of the legal system and must ensure the authenticity of every document they handle.
“Your signatures hold significant weight, and they are representative of the Judiciary,” the Chief Judge remarked.
He further advised the practitioners to carefully scrutinise every document to ensure it is legal and authentic before endorsement, understand that notarised documents often have serious national and international implications and prioritise precision in their work to avoid legal complications.
Responding on behalf of the newly appointed Notaries Public, Opeyokun Adejoke, expressed gratitude and pledged their commitment to the bench.
She assured the Chief Judge that the group would discharge their duties with diligence and avoid any actions that could bring embarrassment to the Lagos State Judiciary.
