A Nigerian woman has sparked online debate after sharing how she adjusted her household expenses when her husband reduced her monthly upkeep from ₦600,000 to ₦200,000.

In a viral TikTok video shared by @officialSharlom, she explained that both she and her husband are financially stable, with her husband running a successful business and she earning well independently.

“My husband came home and told me that his older brother’s wife manages the household with just ₦200,000 for all four children. He then asked, If she can manage with four kids, why can’t you manage with two?” She said.

She cut back on bulk purchases, switched to cheaper brands, simplified meals, and reduced household luxuries, while ensuring her children never lacked essentials.

After about a week, her husband, known for his lavish lifestyle and picky eating habits, noticed the changes. From simpler meals to fewer household extras, the difference was impossible to ignore.

When confronted, she reminded him that she was simply managing the ₦200,000 the same way his brother’s wife reportedly did.
