A three-storey building located at No.20 Kaduna street by Uzuakoli road in Umuahia, has been sealed by the Abia State government, through the Umuahia Capital Development Authority, UCDA.

The house, according to the UCDA, was sealed for allegedly suffering from structural defects and for posing danger to public safety.

Inspecting the action on Monday, the General Manager of UCDA, Kingsley Agomoh ordered all occupants of the affected house to immediately vacate, as according to him, the place was no longer safe for habitation.

Agomoh said that the agency took the proactive step to ensure that lives were not lost, explaining that a preliminary assessment carried out on the building showed a serious structural defect that could result in building collapse, if ignored.
