A Nigerian lady currently living in Japan has sparked reactions online after sharing why she believes Nigeria is better than Japan.

Her video, shared on TikTok under the handle @naijagirlinjapan, quickly gained traction as viewers reacted to her observations.

ATMs Close Early, Banking System Criticized

The lady highlighted differences in banking between the two countries.

She noted that unlike Nigeria, where ATMs are available 24 hours, Japanese ATMs close by 5pm.

She said; “The banking system in Japan, for me, I think is still backward. ATMs shut down by 5pm. The first time I came here, I wanted to use an ATM, I went at 6pm and the ATM was closed.”

Housing: Nigeria Offers More Spacious Apartments

Another area where the lady feels Nigeria has the advantage is in housing.

She explained that apartments in Japan are significantly smaller compared to what is commonly available in Nigeria.

She stated: “The rooms are too small. In terms of housing, I would say Nigeria is better.”

Internet Restrictions

The TikTok user also shared her frustrations with Japan’s internet system.

She noted that subscribers cannot simply top up their internet data whenever they run out; instead, users are locked into pre-selected monthly plans.

She explained; “Now, don’t get me wrong, the internet is very fast. But the way the telecommunications here work is that when you go to get a new SIM, they are automatically selling you a bundle, you have to chose a plan for data, not just for calling. So, they register your SIM based on the data plan that you chose. So if you chose 5gig for the month, that is the plan you are going to work with all forever. So even if you finish your data in a week, there is no data for you have to wait till month end before you renew it.”

Netizens Reacts to Her Observation

The video has sparked numerous reactions from Nigerians and others who have lived abroad, with many sharing similar experiences.
