A Nigerian lady has stirred serious conversation online after sharing her thoughts on why many men no longer ask simple care-checking questions while dating.

In a viral video shared by @Teniola on X (formerly Twitter), she claimed that men now deliberately avoid asking questions like “Have you eaten?” or “What did you eat?” because they do not want to feel pressured to pay for food.

According to her, when a man truly has interest and intention, he won’t just ask the question, he will offer to send money or outright send it without being asked.

In her words, she said:

“If we’ve been chatting for two or three weeks and you can’t even show concern by offering food money, then the talking stage is already over.”

She added that such behaviour is an instant turn-off and often leads her to ignore or block the man.

The statement has divided social media users. One commentator wrote, “Care is not always money,” while another said, “If he wants you, he’ll show it.”

The conversation once again highlights the growing debate around expectations, care, and financial responsibility in modern relationships — with many asking where to draw the line between affection and obligation.
