A 13-year-old boy has filed a lawsuit against his parents living in the United Kingdom for deporting him to Africa.
The boy whose identity was not revealed at the time this report was filed reached out to the British Consulate and a child welfare organization after his mother and father flew him from the UK to Africa.
Our source tells us that following his deportation to the African continent, the parents enrolled him at a boarding school before they made their way back to the UK leaving him in Africa.
The boy’s attorney claimed his parents abandoned him physically and emotionally following worries that he may be indulging in gang associations in London, however, the teenager has strongly dismissed the accusations.
During a court hearing on Tuesday, November 26, the attorneys of the teenager petitioned the Judge to return the boy from Africa to the UK where he was born and has spent his formative years since coming into the world.
The father told the court that the action to send him to Africa was part of responsible parenting meted out thus there is nothing wrong with it.
The boy’s lawyer, Deirdre Fottrell KC argued that the parents could have found another way of dealing with the issue than sending him out of the country.
She added, “The steps that this boy, not yet 14, has taken to try and remedy the awful situation he finds himself in are extreme.”
Fottrell further stated, “There is clear evidence that he is being harmed emotionally, psychologically, and possibly physically in the environment in which he has been placed,” describing the parents’ decision to leave him in such a situation as “extraordinary.”
