Nigerian comedian, Deeone openly criticizes fellow content creator Nons Miraj for gifting a viral fish pie vendor a car instead of providing business capital to support his growing venture.
The controversy began when Nons Miraj, in a widely circulated video, surprised the struggling vendor with a brand-new car to help him expand his business.
While many applauded Nons Miraj for her generosity, Deeone took to social media to question the practicality of the gift.
In his post, Deeone argued that a car might not be the most effective way to help the vendor grow his business. According to him, giving him a lump sum as business capital would have been a more strategic investment, allowing the vendor to scale his operations, improve product quality, or diversify his business offerings.
He further stated that maintaining a car comes with added costs such as fuel, maintenance, and insurance, which could potentially become a financial burden for someone just trying to make ends meet.
“This is a nice gesture even though she does not owe the guy anything. She even paid rent and put him in a nice apartment. But buying this guy a car is not helping him and in fact a financial wickedness. He doesn’t have a system yet to bring in money,” he said partly.
