The Empire alum was spotted arriving at West Hollywood hot spot Craig’s on Tuesday night, where TMZ asked about her relationship status with her ex-fiancé. This comes just one week after she blasted the rapper online for cheating on her, which led to her calling off their engagement.
In the video posted by the outlet, Serayah doesn’t say much as she’s heading into the restaurant. When the paparazzo asks how she’s doing after opening up about the infidelity, the actress says, “we’re doing great.”
The cameraperson then asks if Joey ever “copped” to the cheating, which gets an uncomfortable laugh out of Serayah. She doesn’t exactly answer the question, though, simply replying, “We’re good, just hoping for the best…and grace…and love! That’s all.”
The last thing they ask Serayah as she steps into Craig’s is if she’s given the engagement ring back and if the two of them are on speaking terms, to which she said, “yes we do speak.”
After TMZ tried to frame the star’s short answers as a sign of rekindling, reps reached out to the outlet to clarify that that’s not what’s happening. A representative for the actress insists she only talks to Joey about co-parenting their 14-month-old son, adding that she’s already returned the engagement ring.
Though she’s keeping things cute now, Serayah didn’t hold back when she took to Instagram on Monday, August 24 to announce the end of her relationship with Joey Bada$$, whom she’d been publicly dating since 2023.
She announced the breakup in a lengthy statement, revealing that the rapper had been unfaithful to her multiple times throughout their relationship. The pair were engaged and welcomed a child together in 2025.
“There comes a point in a woman’s life when choosing herself is no longer an option, it becomes necessary,” Serayah began in her statement. “After much thought, I have made the difficult decision to end my engagement and relationship with the father of my child, Joey. I loved deeply, believed wholeheartedly in the life we were building, and wanted nothing more than to protect our family.”
After that, she explained her reasoning for calling it quits, accusing the artist of being unfaithful during some truly difficult moments.
“Unfortunately, I also had to face a painful truth: there had been repeated infidelity throughout our relationship, including during some of the most vulnerable and meaningful moments of my life,” she wrote. “I share this not for sympathy, retaliation, or to publicly tear anyone down. I share it because too many women are taught to question themselves before they question what is happening right in front of them. If your intuition is telling you something is wrong, listen to it.”
She even posted-and-deleted some receipts about the alleged infidelity, talking to the camera in a video while explaining why she’s so upset.
“This person has been a literal piece of s**t to me in private,” she said in the clip. “This person proposes to me, cheats on me, I find out, then proceeds to be out with people—you guys will know who the f**k this is, it’s over with.”
Now that their relationship is strictly co-parenting, it seems like Serayah wants to keep the peace.
