Meet the Man with 20 Wives, 104 Children, and 144 Grandchildren

Mzee Ernesto Muinuchi Kapinga, a Tanzanian man, has revealed that he has 20 wives, 104 children, and 144 grandchildren.

In an interview with Afrimax, his wives shared that they do not experience jealousy, as they care for all the children as their own.

According to Mzee Kapinga, his decision to have a large family was influenced by his father, who once told him that their family was too small and encouraged him to expand it.

Reflecting on his early days of parenthood, he revealed that his father warmly embraced his first grandchild but also had a strong feeling that his son would not stop at one wife and one child.

Mzee said: “I was a young man then, I had just married my first wife in 1961, My first child was born in 1962 but my father told me one wife was not enough our family must grow and so i listened”

He shared that after his father spoke to him about it, he quickly got married—tying the knot with five women in just a few years.

He also admitted that he didn’t even pay their dowries himself; his father covered all the costs.

He added saying: “My father paid the dowry for my 5 wives, he wanted to see our family name, endure the rest i added myself my companionship for the strength of the household”

As he married his five wives, he continued to take on more, eventually reaching a total of 20. Over time, some wives left him, while others passed away, leaving him with 16 wives still in his home.

Sharing his experience of life with 20 wives and 104 children, Mzee said:”I have 16 wives, 104 children and 144 grandchildren life here is simple, but fulfilling.

“My father wanted a legacy and I agreed.”

He also revealed that he didn’t just marry any women—among his wives, seven are actually sisters, all born to the same mother and father.
