Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva were laid to rest on Saturday, July 5, at a funeral held at Igreja Matriz de Gondomar in Portugal.

The service was attended by Liverpool teammates including Virgil van Dijk, Darwin Nunez, and Alexis Mac Allister, as well as Portugal national players like Bernardo Silva and Bruno Fernandes.

The brothers tragically died in a car crash in Spain on July 3 while en route to England. Jota, who recently married longtime partner Rute Cardoso, leaves behind three children.

In other news…. Photos have surfaced showing the wreckage of the Lamborghini crash that claimed the lives of Liverpool star Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre, in northern Spain.

The accident occurred around 12:30am on Thursday near Zamora, close to the Portuguese border. Reports say the car’s tyre blew out while overtaking, causing it to veer off the road, roll over, and burst into flames.

Emergency services arrived at the scene but were unable to save the brothers. The Portuguese Football Federation and Liverpool FC later confirmed their deaths.

Just hours before the crash, Jota had shared a heartfelt Instagram post celebrating his recent wedding to Rute Cardoso, calling himself the “luckiest man in the world.”

‘The 1-1-2 Castilla y León operations room received several calls reporting a vehicle accident at Km. 65 of the A-52, in the municipality of Cernadilla, Zamora. A car was reported to have been involved in an accident and the vehicle was on fire,’ a statement read.

‘1-1-2 notified the Zamora Traffic Police, the Zamora Provincial Council Fire Brigade, and the Sacyl Emergency Coordination Center (CCU) of this accident.

‘From there, a Medical Emergency Unit (UME) and the Primary Care Medical Staff (MAP) from the Mombuey Health Center were sent, who confirmed the de@th of two people on the scene’.
