Oyo Government School Pupils Forced To Learn In Unsafe Conditions After Wind Destroyed Classrooms

Dozens of students of Zumratul Hujaj Community Grammar School in Olorunsogo, Ibadan, Oyo State, have been left to learn in overcrowded and unsafe classrooms after a block of two classrooms collapsed due to heavy wind. 

The structure now lies in ruins, covered with overgrown vegetation and debris, with no intervention from the Oyo State Government.

Despite allocating ₦149,600,077,216.90 to the education sector in the 2025 budget its second-highest priority the government is yet to renovate the damaged facility, raising serious concerns about its commitment to basic education.

Civic technology platform Monitng, in a statement urged Governor Seyi Makinde, highlighting the urgent need for intervention and described the school as a reflection of ongoing neglect.
