The Super Falcons have ceased to dominate globally as they fall from 36th to 37th in the latest FIFA women’s rankings.
Since the previous ranking update, Nigeria’s women’s national team played a double-header against Benin Republic claiming a 2–0 victory away before settling for a 1–1 draw in Abeokuta, a result that secured their qualification for the 2026 WAFCON.
Despite the minor setback, the Super Falcons remain Africa’s highest-ranked women’s football team.

South Africa continue to trail Nigeria closely on the continent and are positioned 55th in the world. Ghana made notable progress, rising five places to 62nd globally. They are followed by Zambia at 64th, while Morocco complete Africa’s top five at 66th.
Burkina Faso made the continent’s biggest jump, soaring 16 spots from 134th to 118th worldwide to claim 15th place in Africa.
On the global stage, Spain retain their position as the world’s number one team, with the United States holding second place. Germany move up to third, England stay fourth, and Sweden complete the top five.
Brazil advance to sixth, pushing France down to seventh. Japan sit in eighth place, while the DPR Korea rise to ninth. Canada round out the top ten.
