Adamawa Executive Council approves N583bn budget proposal for 2026

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a budget proposal of over N583 billion for the 2026 fiscal year.

The Council gave the approval at its meeting on Friday, chaired by Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.

The budget, a total of N583,331,380,496; comes with 64.07 percent provisions for capital spending, amounting to N373,690,964,682; and 35.93 percent recurrent expenditure proposal that amounts to N209,640,964,682.

The Commissioner of Information, Mr Iliya James, gave the details during an interaction with newsmen after the SEC meeting which took place at the Government House, Yola, explaining that it is a ‘Budget for Sustainable Growth and Economic Renewal’.

“We hope to present it soon to the House of Assembly,” the commissioner said, referring to when Governor Ahmadu Fintiri who is currently out of the country, will be tabling the fiscal bill before the lawmakers.

The commissioner said the budget is tailored, among other things, to accelerate the progress of ongoing projects to ensure timely completion.

“The administration is making sure that all projects are completed, as we don’t want to leave any abandoned projects,” he said.
