President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State to spend the end-of-year holidays, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states as part of a three-state tour.
The President arrived at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Saturday, where he was warmly received by Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, senior government officials and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Earlier reports had indicated that President Tinubu departed Abuja on Saturday for the tour, which combined official government engagements with social and condolence visits across the northern states.
In Borno State, the President commissioned a number of projects executed by the state government under Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, in collaboration with the Federal Government. The projects are part of ongoing efforts to rebuild infrastructure and improve social services in the state following years of insurgency and insecurity.
While in Maiduguri, Tinubu also attended the wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, the son of former Borno State Governor and serving Senator, Ali Modu Sheriff, and his bride, Hadiza Kam Salem. The President’s presence at the event was seen as a gesture of goodwill and solidarity with the political and traditional leadership of the state.
From Borno, the President proceeded to Bauchi State, where he paid a condolence visit to the state government and the family of the late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, a renowned Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood. Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, a highly respected religious figure with influence across West Africa, died on November 27.
During the visit, Tinubu commiserated with the Bauchi State Government and the cleric’s family, acknowledging the late Sheikh’s contributions to Islamic scholarship, peace and moral guidance in Nigeria and beyond.
Following the condolence visit, the President travelled to Lagos, where he is expected to spend the holiday period and engage in several public and private activities.
Among his scheduled engagements is attendance at the annual Eyo Festival on December 27, where he will serve as the guest of honour. The festival, which will take place at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, is one of the state’s most iconic cultural events and attracts dignitaries from across the country.
This year’s Eyo Festival will celebrate notable personalities, including the President’s late mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, as well as two former Lagos State Governors, the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Michael Otedola.
President Tinubu’s arrival in Lagos marks the start of his end-of-year engagements, blending official duties with cultural and commemorative events during the festive season.
