The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has expelled its former chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, citing a breach of the party’s constitution.
The decision was taken yesterday during a meeting of the APC State Caretaker Committee at the party secretariat in Calabar.
The committee also confirmed the suspension of the State Special Leader, Dr Juliet Diwa.
Eba, who had previously been removed from office amid allegations of financial misconduct, was expelled under Article 21.5(v) of the APC Constitution, as amended on 26 March 2022.
This provision states that any member who initiates legal action against the party or its officers without exhausting internal dispute resolution mechanisms is automatically expelled upon filing such action.
According to a statement issued by the committee’s Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Inyang, the motion to invoke the clause was moved by the Vice Chairman for the Central Senatorial District, Dr Abubakar Efoli, and seconded by the Youth Leader (North), Dr Joseph Ogar. It was unanimously adopted.

The committee emphasised that no appeal against the expulsion would be considered unless Eba withdraws his ongoing court action challenging his earlier removal.
Separately, the committee upheld Diwa’s suspension following a petition from the APC chairman in Boki Local Government Area, Kelvin Njong.
She is accused of misconduct, including allegedly assaulting the ward chairman, James Abang.
The suspension remains in effect pending an investigation by the party’s disciplinary committee.
