A viral video circulating on X, formerly Twitter, has sparked heated debate after a young lady shared strong views about relationships and financial expectations from men.
In the video, the lady argued that men who cannot provide at least ₦100,000 weekly for a partner’s upkeep should not be considered serious partners.

She said, “Any man who can not give you up to N100k and above for your weekly upkeep is not meant to be called a man. Because, how can you be dating somebody like me and you can not afford to give me N100k and above ooh weekly for my upkeep. Tell me?”
The comment quickly went viral, drawing thousands of views and mixed reactions from social media users across Nigeria.
Social Media Users React Strongly
Reacting to the video, B Bank criticised the lady’s mindset and questioned the financial logic behind her demand.
He wrote, “It’s well. 100k weekly = 400k monthly. If a man dishes out 400k monthly to you means he should be earning more than 1M monthly before approaching you right?”
B Bank went further with harsh words, adding, “Men, please no matter how much you earn, avoid Liabilities with this kind of mentality, they will ruin you.”
Another user, Kie, took a calmer tone, stressing that money should not define manhood.
Kie wrote, “Woah 😅 That’s… one way to define ‘manhood.’ Money can’t be the only measure of maturity or worth. Support, respect, consistency, those count just as much, if not more.”
Kennedoh also condemned the idea of weekly allowances in relationships.
He said, “It won’t be well with any man that still place a woman on weekly allowance and payroll to gain romantic attention.”
Omoigbo described such expectations as transactional rather than romantic.
He wrote, “Expecting any man to give you 100k weekly isn’t a relationship—it’s trading.”
