A Nigerian man has sparked heated debate online after boldly advising women on how to respond if they are physically assaulted by their mother-in-law in the presence of their husband.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @Teeniiola, he stated that any husband who watches his wife get slapped by his mother and does nothing has already failed in his duty as a protector.
He argued that silence in such a moment is approval, and no woman should tolerate physical disrespect in marriage.
Sharing his blunt opinion, the man insisted that women should not endure abuse in the name of peace or family respect, especially when their safety and dignity are involved.
In his words, he said:
“If your mother-in-law slaps you in the presence of your husband and he didn’t do anything, slap her back.”
The statement has divided social media users. While some women agreed, saying self-defence is necessary when a spouse refuses to intervene, others warned that such actions could escalate marital issues.
