Brazilian superstar Neymar has snubbed both Lionel Messi’s Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal when asked about the team he would prefer to face in the final of the 2026 World Cup.
Brazil has one remaining group-stage match against Scotland, following a win and a draw.
Neymar has been named in Brazil’s squad for this tournament after more than two years, having sustained an ACL injury in October 2023.
However, the Santos forward has not yet participated in any matches for the Selecao, as he missed the first two group-stage games due to another injury.
He returned to training with the team last week and may play in the upcoming match against Scotland on June 24.
During a discussion on Puma Football’s social media platform, Neymar was asked about which team he would like to face in the final.
The Brazilian chose to bypass both Lionel Messi’s Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, stating, “Spain. Brazil-Spain.”
While Spain is still considered one of the potential winners of the tournament, both Argentina and Portugal are also strong contenders.
Lionel Messi has been phenomenal in this World Cup, netting five goals in two matches for Argentina, who have already secured their place in the Round of 32.
All of La Albiceleste’s goals in the tournament have been scored by Messi, who has also become the highest goalscorer in the history of the competition with 18 goals.
On the other hand, Portugal started their campaign with a draw and has yet to find their rhythm. Cristiano Ronaldo has not scored in the World Cup thus far. They are set to face Uzbekistan on June 23 for their second group-stage match.
