After spending 21 days in the hands of his kidnappers, Barrister Hashim Abdullahi has been released to his family.

The lawyer was reportedly released after the payment of an unspecified ransom by his family and other well-wishers.

The lawyer was abducted 21 days ago on his way to Sokoto after attending a meeting of the Muslim Lawyers Association in Kano.

Confirming his release, the immediate past President of the association, Barrister Saidu Muhammad Tuduwada, said, “yes it is true that he was just released by his captives.

“We thank Allah for His mercy, and we sincerely appreciate everyone for your prayers, support, and concern during this difficult period”, Tuduwada said.

Hashim’s captors had earlier demanded N100 million for his release but later reduced the ransom to N10 million, giving a 48-hour ultimatum for the money to be paid.
