Troops apprehend suspected terrorist during security operation in Benue

Troops of Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, have arrested a suspected terrorist during a security operation in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to security sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the suspect was arrested at about 9:00 a.m. on July 18 by troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Otukpo.

The operation took place in Amula community as part of ongoing military efforts to clear the area of criminal elements and destroy their hideouts.

The suspect has been taken into military custody and is currently undergoing preliminary interrogation to determine his identity, possible links to armed groups, and the extent of his involvement in criminal activities.

Military authorities said troops have continued to sustain offensive operations and intelligence-driven patrols across Benue State to deny armed groups freedom of movement and enhance security in vulnerable communities.
