Jennie Kim surprised the crowd in Boston on July 29 when she joined Tame Impala on stage for an unannounced performance.
Two days later, the BLACKPINK star shared photos from the appearance, then followed up with a sultry backstage carousel that offered a closer look at her show-stopping outfit. Over four million likes and more than 15,000 multilingual comments later, the post had become something bigger than a concert recap.
For the surprise performance, Jennie wore a vintage Archival Revival Betsey Johnson SS 1999 dress that opened with pink fabric at the bust before giving way to a flowing black mesh layer with a center slit running from chest to hem.
Layered beneath it was a lacy sheer capri-length pant, equally transparent, which sat over what appeared to be a black thong. The combination left very little to the imagination, with one fan commenting “no panties,” seemingly unaware of the layers underneath.
Open-toe heels elevated the look, and a tattoo on her foot caught the eye of fans who flooded the comments asking whether it was real. Other admirers praised the styling, with one declaring Jennie the “queen of the fashion world.”

Not everyone in the comments was there to celebrate. A handful of critics made their feelings known in between the praise. One labeled her “insecure,” while another accused her of “appearing naked at shows” lately.

BLACKPINK’s Anniversary Debate Continues
The outfit criticism shared space with a completely separate grievance. With BLACKPINK’s tenth anniversary approaching on August 8, Blinks, the group’s devoted fanbase, have been vocal about their frustration with how the milestone is being handled.
The reported plans, which include a merchandise collaboration with MU: DS and a giveaway on fan platform Weverse, have not landed well with fans who were hoping for something more personal.
“I think the girls from BLACKPINK forgot it was us Blinks who put them at the top and helped them go global,” one fan wrote directly under Jennie’s post, reflecting the frustration shared by some members of the fandom.
Historic Lollapalooza Performance
Each of the four BLACKPINK members has a successful solo career, with Jennie achieving a notable milestone recently. On August 1, Jennie headlined the main Bud Light Stage at Lollapalooza Chicago, becoming the first Korean female solo artist ever to do so.
It was a historic achievement, and her posts celebrating it were met with a mix of genuine admiration and more of the same complaints from fans who feel the group’s individual pursuits have come at the expense of BLACKPINK as a unit.
Some of Jennie’s supporters even had to step in to defend her, with one asking, “Are you guys seriously okay?” adding that “she [Jennie] has NEVER let BLACKPINK or any of the members down. Not once!!”

Away from the discourse, Jennie recently landed the cover of Cosmopolitan’s Fall 2026 issue, appearing across six different covers in a variety of designer looks, including pieces from Chrome Hearts, Area, Ludovic de Saint Sernin, Roberto Cavalli, and Chanel.
The editorial earned widespread praise from fans, with one admirer calling her the “hottest girl ever,” while another took it further with, “Prettiest girl in the whole world.”
