Candace Owens’ months-long campaign questioning the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s murder has taken an unexpected turn.
While the conservative commentator continues to challenge the prosecution’s case against the man accused of killing the Turning Point USA founder, critics are no longer focused solely on her theories.
Instead, intelligence sources are accusing Owens of becoming a “useful idiot” for a broader misinformation network, a claim her team fiercely rejects.

Instead, it centers on allegations that independent commentators investigating Kirk’s death could unknowingly be helping spread misleading information supplied by foreign actors.
According to one source familiar with foreign intelligence operations, hostile networks often distribute questionable information through anonymous tip lines before allowing trusted online personalities to amplify it.
“They view her as a useful idiot,” the source alleged to the Daily Mail, adding, “She has no idea what’s happening in this world. It’s part of a very much broader network.”
However, Owens’ camp immediately pushed back. “This is 100% false. Candace’s sources are not foreign operatives. These allegations are absurd spin,” a spokesperson responded.

5Whether supporters agree with Candace Owens or not, her investigation has grown into one of the internet’s largest discussions surrounding Kirk’s death.
Since dedicating extensive coverage to the case, the conspiracy theorist has reportedly added roughly one million YouTube subscribers, taking her audience beyond six million.
At the same time, Turning Point USA has reportedly found itself responding to a constant stream of online claims as fresh theories circulate across social media.
Some digital creators believe the phenomenon has taken on a life of its own. One compared it to QAnon, explaining that the format thrives because every new claim creates another opportunity for videos, livestreams and speculation.
“It didn’t make much sense but it kept churning content. Every day there was a new development, a new message. Eventually the public lost interest and the money dried up,” the creator said.

5The renewed attention intensified after Owens released surveillance footage that prosecutors had shown during Tyler Robinson’s preliminary hearing. Robinson was charged with murdering Charlie Kirk but has not entered a plea.
During the hearing in July, CNN reported that prosecutors argued the footage showed him climbing onto the roof of Utah Valley University’s Losee Center before a figure lowered itself into position shortly before Kirk was shot.
Robinson’s attorneys objected to the footage being shown publicly, arguing it had been “altered” and was “extremely prejudicial.”
Days later, Owens uploaded her own version after removing much of the courtroom context surrounding the prosecution’s presentation.
She argued the footage could “free a young man who is being wrongly framed” before pointing to what she believed were signs of military-style movement.
“That person looks like they’ve got training, it’s not giving Tyler Robinson to me,” Owens said after suggesting the rooftop figure appeared to perform a “lateral military crawl.”

Among the biggest beneficiaries has been podcaster Baron Coleman, whose channel reportedly grew from only a handful of subscribers to more than 350,000 subscribers and over 44 million views in less than a year.
Coleman later introduced paid memberships and reportedly earned more than $400,000 through YouTube Super Chats alone, according to third-party tracker Playboard.
His work later caught the attention of Ian Carroll before Owens invited him onto her own show, further expanding his audience.

5The movement has also inspired creators including Brandi Siciliani and Bille Webb, who traveled to Utah to attend Robinson’s preliminary hearing and document the proceedings firsthand.
Siciliani rejected claims that the case had become a money-making venture. “I’ve spent significantly more than I’ve earned. I have a full-time job, and I do this in my free time,” she said, adding that her motivation has always been “seeking answers and sharing my findings.”
Webb echoed that sentiment, saying the investigation soon became all-consuming. “It was like our entire life. We would eat, sleep, and breathe – podcast, and then work 40-45 hours a week on top of that.”
Meanwhile, even those outside the debate have acknowledged that the internet has created powerful incentives for creators to keep producing Charlie Kirk content.
