Kate Beckinsale will always have the last word for body shamers!

The English actress has responded to those who leave scathing comments about her appearance from time to time, expressing her displeasure and revealing some of her health issues behind the scenes.

Kate Beckinsale has recently been bouncing back from the crushing loss of her mother and stepfather, who passed away in 2025 and early 2024, respectively. The actress had lost her biological father when she was just five years old.

The media personality did not mince words in a now-deleted post on Instagram where she responded to trolls who derived pleasure in criticizing her appearance. She noted that it has become nearly second nature for people to tell her she looked anorexic, underweight, or hooked on drugs anytime she shares a picture.

She reportedly uploaded a screenshot of a comment from a fan, telling her to soft pedal on the ozempic as she looked way different than her old self. Beckinsale revealed that she had lost her entire family within such a short amount of time, with only her stepdaughter left to share that bond with.

“The second thing is, I have a condition, which is an autoimmune condition called mast cell activation syndrome, and there’s another one called mast cell disease, and there’s mastocytosis,” Beckinsale declared. As noted by Page Six, she explained that the diagnosis happened 16 years ago after her doctor discovered it and sent it to her.

Beckinsale emphasized, in a frustrated tone, that her stomach has become the battleground or starting point for most of the health issues she has had to battle with. She cautioned another fan who had begged her to eat something about their insensitivity to bring up such a topic right after making several posts about how eating could kill her.

Beckinsale continued that critics need to learn how to be more tolerant of people by giving grace and choosing silence whenever there is nothing nice to say. “You don’t want to be the last straw for somebody; you don’t want to be the thing that makes them more sick. Just keep going; it’s not hard,” the actress emphasized.

Still very upset, Beckinsale proceeded to fulfill the wishes of one fan who wanted her silence by completely wiping off her account, leaving behind a profile picture with an inscription about breaking the new world order.

In 2024, while the actress struggled to keep her mother alive following her battle with stage four cancer, she found herself dealing with exhaustion, resulting in a six-week hospitalization stint. As noted by The Blast, Beckinsale slammed those giving unsolicited opinions about her physical appearance, telling them to worry about themselves and shut their mouths.

Beckinsale emphasized that she had just finished a movie project centered around the death of a father, and that brought back a painful memory of her personal loss. In a separate reaction video, Beckinsale went all sarcastic on critics who tried to box her content in a corner, citing her age as a restriction.

In the lengthy video, the mother-of-one appeared in front of the camera wearing a hairnet and used plenty of sarcasm to make her feelings clear. Explaining the unusual look, she joked that a small section of her followers seemed unusually bothered whenever she did anything they considered inappropriate for her age.

She added that she had decided to give them something to enjoy at the start of their week by simply showing herself putting on a hairnet. Beckinsale upped the ante, taking a playful stance with her back on display and implying that her critics could have as much fun as they wanted now.

To cap off the dig, she jokingly promised that she would try to behave more as they expected her to, quipping that perhaps knitting would be next on her list of suitably “age-appropriate” activities.

The Blast shared that the actress was just five years old when she found her father Richard Beckinsale without breath in the middle of the night, starting the beginning of a very unique journey in her life.

As she mourned the death of her stepfather years later, Beckinsale confessed that she carries the burden of being unable to save both of them, especially because she was at the scene of both their passing. Richard reportedly died in his sleep after suffering a heart attack caused by previously undiagnosed coronary artery disease. 

The actress’ mother, Judy Loe, was not home at the time because she was in the hospital undergoing surgery to unblock her fallopian tubes in hopes of having more children. Beckinsale recalled going to visit her mother at the clinic with her father just a day before his death.

Although he reportedly complained of feeling tired and had mentioned experiencing discomfort in his chest and arms to friends, the seriousness of his condition was apparently not known until he slept and never woke up. Three years after Richard’s death, Roy Battersby entered Kate’s life and became an important father figure to her.

The actress’s journey in the industry has not been all roses and petals, as she has had to show up during some of the most challenging periods of her life.

Beckinsale revealed in an online video at the height of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit in 2024 that she was once forced to work the day after she suffered a miscarriage despite informing her publicist that she was still bleeding.

She recalled being warned about skipping the photoshoot and the lawsuit likely to follow. That was not all; she also detailed her experience of being insulted after complaining about a male co-star who allegedly showed up drunk and caused hours-long delays, costing her precious evening time with her daughter.

Beckinsale added that her health suffered a setback for another project when strict diet and exercise demands on two productions became so extreme that her periods stopped.

While shooting another action film, Beckinsale shared that a male co-star injured her during a fight scene and despite having MRI evidence, she was made to feel responsible and subsequently excluded from cast gatherings.

The actress added she was allegedly assaulted by a trusted crew member when she was 18 and had been mistreated in other ways prior to the incident. Beckinsale claimed two actresses dismissed her when she sought their help, adding that she had countless similar stories showcasing how long women in Hollywood have faced such treatment.
