Kate Beckinsale is once again getting candid about a lingering nightmare!
The British actress’ world changed following the loss of her parents just months apart over the last two years and has since then been honest about her internal struggles and path to finding comfort again.
Kate Beckinsale recently revealed the reason behind her appearance, which has attracted so many opinions of late, explaining that she is currently battling an autoimmune condition.
4The actress, in an Instagram video on September 2, opened up about the painful reality behind PTSD and the invisible struggle that words can feel limited to describe.
Beckinsale reflected on people, military or non-military, who have witnessed several horrors, violence, or extreme terror in any form and yet be complete “heroes” for deciding to survive and carry on.
She added that several people have become skilled at masking their pain over the years, getting used to their sleep patterns being disrupted and dealing with nightmares, so much so that people still fail to give them grace for their bravery.
Beckinsale explained that PTSD has so many triggers and things such as smell, sounds, thoughts, or emotions can send a chill wave down the victim’s body, transporting them to a distressing period.
The actress, who experienced crushing losses a while ago, asked that everyone move through life with more kindness and consideration because outward appearances reveal little about what may be going on behind the scenes.
Beckinsale also noted that loneliness is a prominent characteristic of PTSD despite the fact that these people show up with so much energy each passing day.

Beckinsale, in a follow-up video while lying on a bed with a white headband sweeping her hair off her face, called her followers’ attention to the solemnity of National Grief Awareness Day. Beckinsale suggested that the word “strong” should be excluded from the vocabulary because it can paint a false picture about someone who still needs support and tenderness while trying to move on. She then addressed another angle of grief, which is the emotional toll of taking care of a sick loved one and still watching them leave.
The television personality noted that some caregivers are forced to witness frightening declines they are not medically equipped to handle, often without adequate help, an experience she said can break them.
Beckinsale ended with a plea for people to become a source of safety for someone going through a difficult period, stressing that showing up with compassion could be the difference for someone. The Hollywood celebrity’s comment section was flooded with praise and admiration for her empathetic nature, as her fans also sent e-hugs her way.
