Barcelona star, Gerard Martin, has picked teammate Lamine Yamal as the player who should win the Ballon d’Or this year.

Martin insisted that the 19-year-old Spain winger is the best player in the world at the moment.

“Many things are taken into consideration, but the Ballon d’Or should go to the best player, and the best is Lamine Yamal,” Martin said in an interview with TV3 (via MARCA).

He added, “But [Pau] Cubarsi should also be there, if not on the podium then very high up, because he has had a great season.”

Yamal was recently shortlisted among the 30 players to compete for the Ballon d’Or next month.

He will face strong competition from Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe.
